WWTP San Pedro Mártir: First WWTP in México With Thermophilic Anaerobic Digestion

Introduction

The Wastewater Treatment Plant “San Pedro Mártir” treats 20% of the wastewater from the Querétaro metropolitan area, equivalent to 1 million people, under a BOT scheme that considers the design, construction, financing, operation and maintenance of the project for 20 years.

The main processes include: pretreatment, primary treatment, biological treatment with nutrient removal, disinfection, sludge treatment, anaerobic digestion, sludge dewatering and cogeneration with biogas for the production of electrical energy and heat recovery.

Los principales procesos son: pretratamiento, tratamiento primario, tratamiento biológico, tratamiento de lodos, digestión anaeróbica, deshidratación de lodos y cogeneración con biogás para la producción de energía eléctrica y recuperación de calor.
